Licensing and usage

Use what we build across your business, with clear limits

Ownership tells you what is yours. Licensing tells you where you may use it. This page explains how many stores, brands and clients a build can serve, and what you may and may not do with it.

  • Written in plain English
  • A summary above every section
  • Updated when our practice changes

Using your build

Five rules that cover almost every situation

Most questions about licensing come down to one of these five. The detail follows below.

  • Use it for the stores in your order

The build is licensed for the storefronts named in your order. A plan that includes two storefronts covers two.

  • Add storefronts when you grow

More storefronts, brands or markets can be added to an existing build for a modest fee, rather than a full new price.

  • Agencies can build for clients

Agencies and consultants may order for a client’s store, and the licence belongs to that client’s business.

  • Change it freely

Edit, extend and rebuild the deliverables as you like. You do not need our permission to improve your own automation.

  • Do not resell the templates

You may not sell or share our templates, prompts or methods as a product of your own. They are part of what you license, not what you own.

  • Credit is optional

You do not have to mention Checkout Loom anywhere. If you want to, a simple “built with Checkout Loom” is welcome.

01

How this page relates to ownership

In plain EnglishOwnership says what is yours, and this page says where you may use it.

The intellectual property policy explains that you own the flows, copy and rules built for your store. This page covers the practical question that follows: in how many places, and for whom, you may put them to work.

02

Your licence

In plain EnglishYou may use your build for the businesses and storefronts named in your order, for as long as you like.

When you have paid in full, you receive a perpetual, worldwide licence to use the deliverables, and any of our components that they rely on, for the storefronts and businesses named in your order. The licence does not expire, and it does not depend on a subscription.

03

Extra storefronts and brands

In plain EnglishAdd storefronts, brands or markets to an existing build for a modest additional fee.

A storefront is a separate online store with its own domain or market, such as a second brand or a regional store. If your plan includes several storefronts, they are covered. To add one later, ask through the contact form. We connect the build to the new storefront, adjust it for the new products and policies and quote the work as an addition to your original order.

04

Agencies and consultants

In plain EnglishYou can order for a client, and the licence belongs to that client’s business.

If you build stores for clients, you may order a build for a client’s storefront. Tell us the client’s business name when you order, and the licence is granted to that business, with you as its authorised representative. You may not reuse a build made for one client on another client’s store without ordering again.

05

What you may do

In plain EnglishYou may use, edit, extend, back up and rebuild your deliverables.
  • Use the deliverables in the storefronts and businesses named in your order.
  • Edit, extend, translate and rebuild the copy, flows and rules to suit your business.
  • Move the build to another platform or hosting provider if your business changes.
  • Allow your employees, contractors and agency to work on it on your behalf.
06

What you may not do

In plain EnglishYou may not resell our templates or methods, or present them as your own product.
  • Sell, rent or give away our templates, prompts, tools or methods as a standalone product or service.
  • Use a build made for your store to serve other businesses you do not own or operate.
  • Remove copyright or ownership notices that are part of our tools.
  • Use the deliverables in a way that breaks the law or the rules of the platforms they run on.
07

Third-party tools and licences

In plain EnglishYour platforms and apps have their own licences, and you need an active plan with each.

A build runs inside tools that you license from other companies, such as your store platform, email tool and helpdesk. You are responsible for keeping those subscriptions active and for following their terms. If you stop paying for a platform, the automation that relies on it will stop working, and that is outside our control.

08

Credit and brand use

In plain EnglishYou do not need to credit us, and we will not use your brand without asking.

You are free to say that Checkout Loom built your automation, or to say nothing. Please do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse a product or service we have not worked on. We will not use your name, logo or store in our marketing without your agreement.

09

If our work together ends

In plain EnglishThe licence continues after our work ends, and your deliverables remain yours to run.

Ending a project does not end your licence. If you have paid in full, you may keep using everything you received. We would be glad to help later, but you are never locked in.

Questions

Questions people ask about this policy

Can I use my build on a second store?

Yes, if the second storefront is included in your plan or added later. Ask through the contact form and we connect the build to the new storefront.

I am an agency. Can I order for my clients?

Yes. Order for the client’s storefront and tell us the client’s business name. The licence belongs to that client, and you act as their representative.

Do I need to keep paying to keep using it?

No. There is no subscription from us, and the licence is perpetual. You only need to keep paying for your own platforms and apps.

Can I show the build to a prospective client?

You may describe what the build does in general terms. Please do not share the templates, prompts or settings themselves, because those are part of what we license rather than sell.

What happens if I change platforms?

You may move the build to another platform or host. Some parts will need to be reconnected, and we can quote that work if you would like help.

Can I sell what you built?

You may use it in your business. Reselling the system itself as a product needs our written agreement.

Can an agency reuse the same build for several clients?

Each client store needs its own order, though agencies receive a discount on repeat work, as described on this page.

Do I need a licence for the tools you connect?

You need an account with each tool the automation uses, because the subscriptions belong to you and are paid directly to the tool.

Can I give the build to my developer?

Yes. You own the flows, copy and rules, so you may hand them to anyone who maintains your store.

What if I sell my store?

The build transfers with the store. Tell us if you would like the new owner added to the portal.

Planning more than one store?

Tell us about your storefronts and we will quote the build so it covers all of them from the start.

  • Perpetual licence
  • No subscription from us
  • Agencies welcome
